The federal Sports and Health Ministers have indicated Kelly Slater’s chances of entering Australia are extremely low with the surfing legend not yet declaring his vaccination status.
Slater is set to compete at Bells Beach, Victoria and Margaret River, Western Australia in April, but may have hit a snag after coming to the defence of tennis star Novak Djokovic and not confirming if he’s had the coronavirus jab.
“Maybe Stockholm Syndrome can now change its name to Melbourne/Australia syndrome,” Slater said on social media in response to the Djokovic saga.
“If you’re vaccinated why are you concerned/worried about anyone else’s status ... unless, of course, it doesn’t protect you? Or you’re scared you’ll catch it or upset you had to take the risk of vaccination yourself.
